Johannesburg
  Alexandra Health Centre

We started our immersion into this complex and troubled country, South Africa. Our guides were wonderful. Allison, Clive, and William, who would be with us through Pretoria. They had all been active in the struggle against apartheid and were extremely knowledgeable about important facts and incidents.

This seemingly bucolic setting is the Alexandra Health Centre, in Alexandra Township near Johannesburg. Operating with limited resources, it is the only source of health care for too many people.
